About Our Public Cohorts

Do your interns only receive on the job training but no formal classroom experience? Do you not have enough staff at level to host your own level training? Or do you need to train an off-cycle new hire? GLS can help!

In addition to custom training tailored for specific firms, we proudly offers public cohorts where firms can register as few or as many participants as needed. Whether you lack sufficient staff at a particular level or have a rolling new hire process, our public cohorts for Level 1 through 4 provide a solution. These courses are deliberately kept small for optimal interaction with the instructor, and they create an environment for your staff to not only learn but also connect with peers from different firms. Attendees will participate in engaging group discussions, join in collaborative case-studies, and even take part in a fun and competitive game show!

At GLS, we’re methodology-agnostic; auditing principles are not dependent on the type of third party practice aids utilized. The identification of assertions doesn’t change between firms! Therefore, we can provide your staff with a rock-solid foundation and audit best practices, while leaving any potential firm-specific content to you. Firms that register three or more attendees for a single cohort receive an extra bonus. However, single staffers are always welcome. With various cohorts starting throughout the year, your next training opportunity is just a click away. Explore our upcoming cohorts by clicking below.

Testimonials

“I really enjoyed the time spent with this CPE. A lot of CPE events we attend are long and drawn out, making people want to work on other tasks, fall asleep, or zone out, and I think this course does a great job of keeping people engaged and learning the entire time. I’ve already told the partners at my firm that I love the presenter and I would 100% want to enroll in another course. I believe that this was a perfect intro course that covers a lot of material, but is great!”

“She is so fun and explains the correct answer after polling questions if not everyone got the correct answer so that way people can understand why they may have gotten the answer wrong. The material is beginner friendly for people like me who are new to the auditing world, and she does an amazing job of making people not feel embarrassed or alone for not knowing something”

Jaclyn, who facilitates our training, was exceptional. Her deep knowledge of the subjects was matched by her skillful presentation techniques, making complex topics easily understandable. Her mastery in voice modulation and strategic use of pauses kept the session engaging and interactive. Remarkably, even in a virtual setting, she maintained our attention throughout, ensuring that the training was not only informative but also captivating.”

Assessing Risk and Enhancing Team Performance

Level 4: Experienced Seniors

Melisa Galasso, audit training program lead

Level 4 Audit Training caters to the experienced senior who has the primary responsibility for risk assessment. The risk assessment standards require the auditor to identify risks, assess risks, and then respond to those risks. They must also understand the entity and its environment, including internal controls. In these sessions, we will review the requirements for each phase of risk assessment and learn how to apply them in practice. Participants will also discuss best practices in the area of planning, preliminary analytics, and preparing clients and staff for new pronouncements.

The sessions also include several round table discussions on best practices in reviewing workpapers and identifying opportunities for value added services. A key focus of Level 4 Audit Training is the group presentation. Participants will work collaboratively in teams to research a hot topic in the profession and prepare a formal presentation for the all attendees (and sometimes even special guests), to simulate the requirements of a board presentation.
