GLS Annual Retreat

In this episode of the Genuine Learning Blog, Melisa Galasso shares highlights from GLS’s annual retreat in Myrtle Beach, where the team focused on strategic planning, exploring new tools, reviewing financials and content strategy, and preparing for upcoming changes like 2026 pricing and their 10th anniversary. The retreat balanced productive sessions with fun activities like bowling, beach walks, and dinners, helping the team set goals and recharge for the year ahead.

GLS Annual Retreat: Myrtle Beach 2025 Recap

Welcome to our recap of the GLS Annual Retreat! Every year, our team gathers for a few days of strategic planning, collaboration, and a little bit of fun, and 2025 was no exception. This year, our adventure took us to the scenic Myrtle Beach, where we were fortunate to enjoy good weather and inspiring views while working on our goals for the year ahead.

Day 1: Arrival and Team Fun

We kicked things off on Sunday evening, arriving from various locations and meeting for a delicious team dinner. True to Myrtle Beach tradition, we couldn’t resist the iconic SkyWheel. The spectacular views made for the perfect team bonding experience and set the tone for the days ahead.

Day 2: Tools, AI, and Reflection

Monday was a deep dive into the tools we use—everything from instructional design software and blog platforms to technology for our live and recorded courses. We evaluated their effectiveness, explored new possibilities, and even began integrating some innovative tools (watch this space for enhancements!). Artificial intelligence was also an essential topic. We discussed how to leverage AI ethically and realistically in our work.

One of the highlights was our intentional, in-person Q3 quarterly review. We assessed our key performance indicators (KPIs) and “rocks” (major goals), helping us set the stage for a strong finish to the year. Of course, we made time for pancakes in the morning and enjoyed a fun evening of bowling and a team dinner at Tupelo Honey, one of our all-time favorite spots!

Day 3: Business Focus and Creative Content

On Tuesday, we zeroed in on our financials, considering ways to grow revenue, control costs, and continually provide exceptional products for our clients. We spent the afternoon focused on our content strategy, brainstorming how to best serve our audience—whether through live training, on-demand recorded content, our blog, or our LinkedIn newsletter.

Pricing is always on the agenda at the annual retreat, and this year we started planning updates for our 2026 rates (coming soon to the website!). No GLS Myrtle Beach retreat would be complete without some much-needed downtime: leisurely walks on the beach, crepes for dinner, and plenty of steps tracked in the beautiful ocean air.

Day 4: Wrapping Up and Looking Forward

Our final morning was all about marketing, honing our strategy and best practices before outlining our key takeaways and assigning action items (aka, homework!) to carry forward our momentum. After a quick huddle, everyone headed home, recharged and ready to implement fresh ideas.

Looking Ahead

Our time together in Myrtle Beach was a blend of strategic work, reflection, and rejuvenation. As we look toward closing out 2025 and gearing up for a strong 2026, we’re excited not only for new initiatives but also for a big milestone: GLS will be celebrating its 10th anniversary in February 2026! Stay tuned for updates on how we’ll mark this special occasion.
